Crew Management

Crew members are designed to play roles in ship life, open opportunities and pursue their own goals instead of acting as static quest markers.

Short answer. The publisher describes crew attention, duties and individual goals as part of ship management. The roadmap says crew mechanics will expand during Early Access, so exact launch-day commands, bonuses and relationship rules still need runtime verification.
